Advantages: great acting, great story, well done

Disadvantages: People get the wrong idea, graphic in parts

...Well so I was told.
'Lolita is on tonight, it is about a dirty paedophile who rapes his daughter'.

But i was told it was a good film, not my cup of tea by the sound of it, but i gave it a chance.

Well, this film is not about paedophiles. Nor is it about incest. It is about two people thrown together and acting on their lustful impulses.

And the father does NOT rape the girl - at any time. She is a very willing party in these sexual games, often more so than he is.

The pair travel, and often engage in sexual activity, as time goes on, the girl, 12 years old don't forget, begins to initiate sex as a way of getting what she wants, more pocket money, permission to be in a play etc.

And her father very willingly agrees.

I wont go too much into the story as this op is not intended to be about what happens in the film, but rather the intentions of the film.

This is not a story about peadophiles, rape, incest or any other taboo sexual subject, but rather a film about a girl who doesnt know right from wrong, uses people for sex for her own gain, basically a prostitute, and a man who has lustful urges towards a younger female, and unfortunately is given the opportunity to act on these impulses as the girl practically throws herself at him.

She can tell he is besotted with her and so uses it for her own advantage.

Many people lust over many things, but dont always get the opportunity to act on these feelings. Is it so wrong when you do? well, yes, when it is sex with your 12 year old daughter.

But that is not the point of the film, not the real subject. The real subject is the fact that the man would never have initiated anything with the girl had she not been the way she was, throwing herself, perfectly willing.

The 'baddy' in the film is not the man, as many percieve it to be, but the girl, who lets him act out his fantasy for her gain.

is is a great film, and for people who can see past the fact that it is a man having sex with his little girl, there is a great story, a great idea, and the filiming is excellent.

Well worth a watch - if you are prepared to be open minded and see past the stigma.
