The problem with converting a great work of literacy is that people will look very critically upon the film if it doesn't stay true to the roots of the book. The problem therefore with Lord of the Rings was how to convert three books, or one very very long book, into a format that would appeal to a global audience and still respect the book! ... I had never read the trilogy, and can honestly say, I never wanted to read the books (and probably still don't). However, my fiance has read and reread them, and could not wait until this came to the cinema - although he was a bit apprehensive as to how well it would adapt to the big screen. I went along to the cinema, expecting to ... Read the complete review

OK, let me start of by saying this is my first review EVER, so apologies if its not very good : ) Right, first things first - I'm a big Lord Of The Rings fan, and have been waiting for this film to be made since I first read the book. However, I think this has made me a more honest judge of it because if it wasn't very good, ... Read the complete review

Sometimes you go to the cinema and you see films which are pretty mediocre, and you wont rmember them in a years time, well, if you do and see Lord of the Rings, this will not happen. Lord of the rings has to be one of the best films i have ever seen in my life! (Nothing to do with the fact that it stars Orlando Bloom or anything.....at all..!) ... Read the complete review

Long ago powerful rings were made for the elves, dwarf lords and for the race of men. These rings were intended as tools to be used for the betterment of each of these peoples as they lived together in the world of Middle Earth. Unbeknownst to these groups a powerful dark force forged a master ring, one that could dominate all the other rings, ... Read the complete review

Forget about whether it's true to the book, it's close enough not to worry about, this is an epoch making film. Its 13 Oscar nominations say it all. In particular, the use of special effects in The Fellowship of the Ring is as distinct a landmark as the first sound or colour movie. Where they need to be seamless, they are ... As im sure all of you know, this was one of the most anticipated movies of all times and in my opinion did not disapoint. There has been much debate over the running time, however as Peter Jackson fully intended to give an accurate representation of the book, he needed to give it the running time it had. I found that the movie ... Read the complete review

Sunday night the kids threw us out of the house! Talk about a change of roles, ha! We hadn’t misbehaved, we hadn’t been rude or insolent, in fact we hadn’t done anything remotely bad to warrant this treatment, so what on earth were they thinking of? It was all down to the simple statement I uttered to Will the other ... Read the complete review

when I first heard the rumour that a live action movie of one of my favourite books was being made, I had shivers. When you hold a particular book close to your heart, I think you become quite possessive and you don’t want anything to be done to it. That’s how I feel anyway, and frankly, I was more than worried. I must confess, I have avoided Lord of the Rings for years.... Ever since I started reading the Hobbit when I was 8 (and gave up because I was scared of the spiders) I've been curious about it, but have never really felt the need to read it. It?s difficult to review Peter Jackson?s first instalment of the long awaited Lord of the Rings trilogy without referring to the other big literary adaptation of the year. But The Fellowship of the Ring cannot be reasonably compared to the boy Potter, at least not yet. Hype-wise both wizard tales can easily go head-to-head, but for now J.R.R. ... Imagine a world, where we live for Causes, for truth and righteousness, or for the twisted powers of the dark forces, wrapped into shadow.
