Advantages: Great acting, great story, great development, really well made.

Disadvantages: Cut short by that bloody writers strike!

Lost is, in my opinion, the greatest television show of all time. The fourth season surpasses all the others in terms of quality and plot development so you can imagine that this review is going to be particularly enthusiastic about the DVD!

In case you're not familiar with Lost then... well, you REALLY don't want to start watching the fourth season. Lost isn't the type of show you can just watch random episodes of, like Friends or something. You NEED to know the background of the characters to appreciate the magnitude of some of the twists and turns. Sure, each episode is beautifully crafted amongst the idyllic Hawaiian islands and each episode has its own 'personality' but for Lost to REALLY get your heart racing you need to watch the other seasons first.

As usual, the acting is terrific. Matthew Fox, Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn lead the cast and the do a great job, some of the best actors on television.

If you're already a Lost fan then you'll know the SHOCKING circumstances that season 3 ended under. Season 4 picks up on that theme with flash FORWARDS instead of flash BACKS. This is hugely interesting because we get to see who 'survived' the island and who didn't. The main story follows the 'Oceanic 6' as they were called by the world's media. Those are the six people that survived. As the season progresses, we see who survived and who died.

I'm looking forward to the extras in this DVD myself, as the Lost DVD's always seem to have a few treats up their sleeves for die hards.

I HIGHLY recommend this if you are a fan or drama of any description but it's vital that you watch the other seasons first.

Summary: Highly recommended, the most accomplished season of the show yet.
