When Marty celebrates his tenth birthday, he realises that he wants to see the rest of the world, not just stay in the zoo for the rest of his life. He gets some hints of how to escape from some penguins who are trying to do the same thing, and soon after actually carries out the escape. His friends, Alex, Melmen and Gloria follow him, and end up at Grand Central Station. When the police find them, they all end up being sedated from tranquiliser guns and shipped off to Madagascar. And this is where the story begins!
When in Madagascar, the animals find a pack of lemurs and everyone ends up enjoying themselves; except for Alex. Alex misses the attention of the people who come to look at him in the zoo. However, when he finally accepts that the wild is a good place to be, his hunting instincts kick in and he ends up chasing Marty!
How will the foursome end up? Will Alex finally eat Marty? Will they all stay on the island forever? Or will the penguins find a way off?
The actors voice the characters perfectly; my favourite being David Schwimmer as the voice of hypochondriac Melman, simply because he is scared of absolutely everything. They all portray the characters excellently; their voices take on great expression and you can really relate to the characters.
The animation is outstanding; there is never a moment when you think the animation is below standard. It's fluid and it flows from one scene to the next easily; the characters seem likelike and perfect!
The scenery and colours are beautiful! They stand out perfectly without seeming too bright and unrealistic. Everything in the film seems pretty great, and I for one think that it's one of the best films in a while.
Children should definitely watch this film and I think adults would enjoy it too. It's fun for all the family and it's an excellent film.
Summary: Great film for all the family to enjoy!
