Plot

Leaving Madagascar in a "fixed" plane, the gang leaves for New York Zoo. Penguins are flying the plane. King Julien is in first class watching movies and sipping fancy drinks. All of a sudden the engines go out. They find themselves hurling downing towards some unknown land. They crash on a reservation for animals where we meet all new characters. The adventure begins when Alex finds his beginning, Melman finds his courage and Marty finally fits in. Will Alex become the king? Will Melman finally tell Gloria he loves her? Will Marty find someone who understands him? Find out in this great tale of friendship.
Characters
(My favorite characters)
-Alex (Ben Stiller) Alex is the Lion. He originated from Africa but ended up at the New York Zoo. He loves to dance and perform. He has a great sense of humor. -Melman (David Schwimmer)- Melman is a Giraffe that is in love with the hippo Gloria. (Although he won't tell her) He likes to take a lot of medicine and he likes the safety of having a doctor around. He is also from the New York Zoo.

-Marty (Chris Rock)- Marty is a hilarious zebra. He is "crackalackin'." He is Alex's best friend and also came from the New York Zoo.
-Gloria- (Jada Pinkett Smith) Gloria is a hippo also from the New York Zoo. She is a very large hippo and very loyal.
"Who's your friend? Or is that your butt?"- Gloria

King Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen)- Julien is a Lemur that was king of madagascar. He is crazy and funny.
"Hey, surprise, freaks! I am coming with you!"- King Julien

-Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer)- Maurice is a Lemur from Madagascar. He is King Julien's helper.
-Mort (Andy Richter) - Mort is a Lemur that irritates everyone. He has a very high pitched voice.

-Moto Moto (Will.i.am)- Moto Moto "So nice when you say it twice" is a large male hippo who likes Gloria because she's huge. He is from Africa.
-Makunga (Alec Baldwin) - Makunga is the bad guy. He is from Africa. He is my favorite character. He wants to become king and tries to sabotage Alex and his father.
Opinion

This movie is off the "shizaam." This is a very clever, well written movie that both adults and children can enjoy. Even my 13 year old "thinks he's too cool for everything" son loves it. I have watched it many times since it is hard to agree on a movie that we all like. Be warned, you will catch yourself quoting this movie all the time. You won't be able to stop.
My favorite character is Makunga because he thinks he has a real desire to become king. When he finally achieves his dream he has no aptitude for it. He just likes the status and standing around looking good. Alec Baldwin plays this part well. He has the right voice for it.
King Julien is my second favorite character. He thinks he is king no matter where he is and he obviously does not live in reality. He does not care what anyone thinks about him. He doesn't even care what anyone does around him. He just wants "loyal" subjects who obey him.

To sum it up, I think you should watch this movie. Even if you don't have children you will like it.
