Magicians is a film released in 2007 with the two lead actors being Robert Webb and David Mitchell, playing the parts of Karl and Harry respectively. The director is Andrew O'Connor. The pair are both stage magicians, but after Harry finds out that Karl is having an affair with his wife, there is an "accident" when Harry cuts off his assistant wife's head off in a guillotine trick. It may have been obvious to others, but I'm still not sure whether or not he deliberately killed her! After this rather career-damaging accident Harry finds himself working in Wilkinsons demonstrating goods. Four years after the accident, he hears of a national ... Read the complete review

Mitchell and Webb are a comedy duo that have given us some funny stuff such as Numberwang and of course Peep Show. Magicians stars Mitchell and Webb, do these two things have something in common? No of course they don't, one is funny, the other is a film. I don't know why but I was under the impression that this film was from the minds of Mitchell and Webb. But it's not, they're merely the stars and quite what attracted them to this bland British comedy is anyone's guess. The pair play a couple of magicians who play out their act to sell out crowds, unfortunately one night they manage to decapitate their assistant as a guillotine trick ... Read the complete review

Harry and Karl are a double magician act, and very successful too. The story starts when Harry (David Mitchell) finds Karl (Robert Webb) in a rather awkward position with his wife. As they are due on stage next to do the dreaded "guillotine" trick Harry accidentally beheads his wife as the trick goes worng. It is of course questionable as to whether Harry did it on purpose as he was angry at finding his wife and best friend in that compromising position. However he is cleared of murder. After a few years Harry hears of a magic competition in which he could win a large cash prize so he decides to contact former best pal Karl after an ... Read the complete review

When Harry (David Mitchell) finds his best friend and stage partner Karl (Robert Webb) in a compromising situation with his wife he says everything is fine. In the following act of their magic show it seems it clearly wasn't fine as Harry accidentally cuts his wife's head off. It's now 4 years later and having just been fired from his job in Wilkinson's Harry enters a magic show for the first time in 4 years. He tries to reform his show with Karl but after another falling out they both decide to go solo and end up competing head to head for the International Shield. Having been a huge fan of Mitchell and Webb's previous work it was almost inevitable that I'd ... Read the complete review

I decided to buy this film as it was very cheap and stared David Mitchell and Robert Webb better known for there roles in Peep show. I wasn't really knowing what to expect as I had never heard of it before I bought it and it was under £4 so my expectations were not too high, I was very pleasantly surprised. The basic outline to the story is as follows, Harry ( played by David Michell) and Karl (played by Robert Webb) are 2 great magicians who work together with there beautiful assistant, who also happens to be Harry's wife. Until one day just before they go on stage Harry finds Karl in a compromising position with his wife, as a result the trick ... Read the complete review
