I missed Magnolia at the cinema, but heard lots of good things about it on the net, so ordered it on R2 DVD (which kept on being pushed back.. grr!) I eventually recieved the DVD on Oct 2nd, but didn't get a chance to watch the 3 hour epic until this week.

Boy was I impressed, okay there's some insane things in there, but it's a classic film no question, of course the casting helps this a lot, from William H Macy as a famous child star of a quiz show, to Tom Cruise as a self help guru, who has a slightly different slant on things to the normal seminars! The story follows a group of people, who are mostly unrelated, but end up coming into contact with each other in strange ways, and it works so well on so many levels

The outsnading thing about this film to my mind is the way th e incidental music works perfectly with the film, in fact it's probably the best instance of this that i've seen since Jackie Brown (although that was really just one song used over and over!) It's just brilliant, and really works well on DVD!

The three hours really seems to fly by, a bit like with The Green Mile!
