I'm going to start off by saying that Magnolia was cruelly ignored when it came to the Oscars last year. Paul Thomas Anderson created a vast emotional film that featured some excellent performances and amazing visuals. The film is et in the San Fernando valley and features several stories that somehow interlink with each other. For most of the time it shows human beings at their most lowest ebb. As the film was produced through New Line Cinema the kings of DVD we were always going to get a good treatment. The DVD is a 2 disc set. This is the same deal on both Region 1 & 2. The R1 however wins out because of it's beautiful packaging which towers ... Read the complete review

DVDs like magnolia have set a standard to what other DVDs should aim for. Not just a great movie but also the additional features that are provided gives you REAL value for money. The movie comes on two disks and retails between 9.99 and 20 pounds. An award-winning movie with a whole list of famous actors staring in it. I will not go into how good the movie is but I want to talk about the features that come with the movie: 1) The standard movie trailers are on here, nothing too exciting but good all the same. 2) Music videos. 3) A Tom cruise interview. This is very interesting, cruise here gives his views on the movie, his part, how ... Read the complete review

The double dvd contains music video and various trailers, but the main feature to why this is soooo good is the 'making of' diary. It gives a rare and open glimpse of a film set and the front runnings, as well as a private look of the director (P.T.Anderson) at work. He comes across as a geniune artist, in my own opinion worthy to as much attention as Altman. Julianne Moore is also in the diary substantally. The film has been compaired to Shortcuts, and I can state if you liked that then you will like Magnolia. There are so many references within the film it is impossible to list them, and if its anything to go by, the film even captured my brother's ... Read the complete review

A fiendishly intricate film that interweaves the lives of a dozen San Fernando Valley residents, "Magnolia" may have split public opinion (in my opinion I love it because of its great drama, excellent screenplay, superb acting and music and climactic ending) but there's no denying its ambition. And the movie's served by an equally ambitious two-disc set. Among the extras are the full Frank TJ Mackey (Tom Cruise) sex-help seminar and a music video for Aimee Mann's langurous ballad "Save Me", shot by Anderson while he was still shooting "Magnolia". But the best Extra has got to be the 75-minute production diary. ... Read the complete review
