Advantages: Good story, great special effects
Disadvantages: not as good as the book
This movie was set in America. I don't know why, as the book was set in England.
Matilda Wormwood (played by Mara Wilson) is an extraordinary girl in spite of her family. And her powers help her through the whole story.
Matilda's father, Harry( played by Danny Devito, who also narrates this story), Is a used car salesman who specializes in lemons (crappy cars), And is an all around dirtbag.
Matilda's father and her mother, Zinnia( Played by Rhea Pearlman), are the worst parents ever. They tell her to watch tv instead of reading, and that's not even the beggining, though it is bad enough.
When Matilda's father gives the principal of the school a car to get Matilda into school, Matila meets her teacher, Jenny Honey( played by Embeth Davidtz), and her principal, Agatha Trunchbull( Pam Ferris).
When Miss Honey finds out just how smart young Matilda is, she tells Trudgebull to skip her ahead a few grades, But Trudgebull being the dictator that she is, Decides that Matilda is acting up.
Matilda finds out that trudgebull is Miss Honey's aunt and that she took Miss Honey's house away from her.
Matilda learns about her powers one day when Trudgebull is antagonizing her classmates.
Soon she learns how to use her powers and rights the wrongs in her life and in others.
