Another of the countless Van Damme films to be unleashed upon the public. Naturally its an action thriller starring Van Damme as a 'kickboxing police inspector', interesting premise so far, trying to solve the murder of his twin brother whom he was seperated from at a very young age. Funny how Van Damme plays his own twin in another film but nonethless a fairly typical Van Damme plot, namely Van Damme taking revenge for something, usually a death with plenty of bloodspill on the way there. Of course there's eyecandy also, where would a Van Damme film be without the love interest? Natasha Henstridge is provided as blonde totty for the muscled star. ... Read the complete review

Maximum Rish is a fairly typical Claude Vn Damme film that my other half so loves to make me sit through and it is a thoroughly average offerring from the Belgian muscleman. Based in France Van Damme plays a kick boxing police inspector by the name of Alain, when he is taken to see a corpse he is shocked to see that the body looks exactly like him and is the body of a man known as Mikhail Suverov who it turns out was his twin brother who was seperated from him at birth and given up for adoption by his mother. Determined to learn more about his brother he heads off to New York only to discover that his dead twin was connected to the Russian ... Read the complete review

And again, Jean Claude Van Damme plays a double role, this time as his own twin brother who dies at the beginning of the film. Van Damme's brother was involved with the Russian mafia in New York and was on his was to meet the brother who he was separated at birth from. Hot on the heels of Van Damme's brother was the FBI who had close links to the Russian mafia. The trail leads him to New York where he beds his brothers ex-squeeze Natasha Henstridge - she of Species fame. Ringo Lam directs the film well, adding decent Ronin-esque car smashes in the South and France city of Nice. However, it's the choppy editing that lets the film down - its so badly constructed ...
