Rating:
May is a little known, rather disturbing black comedy that's also surprisingly sweet, and made a name for its editor, Rian Johnson, who went on to write and direct the super neo noir film Brick. On a budget of $500,000, director Lucky McKee has crafted a charming, hilarious, and altogether endearing film. May Dove Kennedy (Angela Bettis) is a rather shy and retiring young woman who has been bullied for the majority of her life because of her curious, unconventional appearance. May (Angela Bettis; Toolbox Murders, Sick Girl) had a sad upbringing, an eye patch (due to her having an incredibly lazy eye) over her right eye made her look like a pirate, segregating her from other kids. May is a modernized femme version of Doctor Frankenstein, it is about a young adult named May that hasn't many friends. Upon meeting a gentleman on her way to work one day, her social horizons expand. She soon learns how it feels to be in love, lose love, cope with the emotional effects of being stabbed in the back and lied to. Eventually she decides that maybe not everyone is for her - on the contrary, maybe they are..piece my piece May makes her own 'friend'. This movie was absolutely amazing! I could watch it over and over again. Though the movie has lots of gore, the dark humor makes up for it! I reccomend this to any horror film lover young or old. I hope ...
