Advantages: Great teenage film

Disadvantages: none

Mean Girls is a very funny film set in high school. It came out in cinema's in 2004 and stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Tim Meadows. They all do a job job of showing what teenage life is like, though admittedly a bit exaggerated! It is set with over the top stereo types such as the jocks and 'fake' plastic girls.

Cady is raised in the African bush country with her zoologist parents. The law of the jungle takes a whole new meaning when the home schooled 15 year old must go to public high school. She quickly learns through her new friends Ian and Janice; Who hate the queen bee in school Regina, and hatches a plan to be mean back to her for her childhood revenge using Cady. Between boys and make-up and the school girls all wanted to be liked will Cady learn and choose the right crowd? The claws come out in this film and turns into a girls war that has the whole of the school running for cover!

At the beginning of this film everyone starts feeling sorry for, and rather amused by how little Cady knows, that is until she turns into a 'mean girl' herself . The relationship between the characters Janice and Ian shows a great friendship and taking the mickey out of each other a lot which brings great laughs. The plastics reign terror over the school which altogether makes this film a must see with the humour of everyday life.

On the dvd it has lots of special features such as:
-3 featurettes
-Word Vomit (Gag reel)
-Deleted scenes
-theatrical trailer
..and more! Out of the special features on this dvd my favourite would have to be the gag reel. I love seeing people who are acting muck up their lines and it has a decent length of this going on here. The featurettes are talking to the cast about different things such as how girls are quite horrible to each other in high school and how they're showing this in the film. It shows the 'imperfections' of what girls think they should be like, showing that they get these 'rules' from magazines and the celebrities today.

I personally could watch this film over and over and probably not get bored of it. Although i like this film, i hate the way that the plastics in the school should like be in charge just because they're blonde or pretty and thin. In a way its still not setting a good example for girls who are watching this film as i hated those girls in my school, and i guess if your weren't them you always did because they were always the ones who disrupted your school environment. It definitely portrays teenagers and how petty they can be. The scenes with Regina's mum i think weren't needed. It turned this film a bit sleazy as her mum was very creepy and you could always sense some kind of sexual reference coming up when she was around. But apart from that i really enjoyed it!

This is definitely a must see film full of out spoken comedy that at least one of us out there can relate too! Rated a 12 as it contains moderate language and sex and drug references. Running time is approx 93 minutes. You can buy it now for around 4.99 from play.com
