Advantages: Great story, Fantastic acting skills, Great special effects
Disadvantages: none
This movie is one of the best comedy DVD's I have seen in a long time. The acting by Ben Stiller is outstanding. He is rated by myself as a very up and coming comedian, especially in film such as this.
The story is about a male nurse 'Greg Focker' who wants to marry his girlfriend Pam. They are both in love and he's sure she will say yes. However, the small minor detail is that Greg has yet to meet her parents. So a date has been set to go and stay for the weekend at her parents home.
As you would imagine, Greg is very nervous about this and you can tell this in the way he tries every possible way to fit into this new families lives. The major set back is that as soon as Pam's father meets Greg he takes an instant dislike to him. Pam's father is played by Robert De Niro who plays him excellently. Well, as you can guess Greg makes a fool of himself on almost every occasion by trying too hard to fit in. Pam's sister is getting married and this whole weekend revolves around this.
Greg manages to set fire to the beautiful archway which a friend has spent days and days sculpturing out of wood. He looses Jack's beloved cat. He manages to make the garden a boggy stinky mess when he flushes the toilet and it overflows into the garden.
A funny part is where Greg opens a bottle of champagne and the cork knocks the urn off the mantle piece containing the ashes of Jack's (De Niro) mother. Jack's beloved cat then goes and uses the ashes scattered on the floor as cat litter.
There are many many funny and hilarious happenings in this story. I admire the write for a fantastic and original storyline. I will not keep listing what happens because it will ruin peoples enjoyment. This film is definately worth watching and there is also a follow-up out which is called 'Meet the Fockers.' The special effects are fantastic and your sides will be aching before it is finished. I would rate this movie 10/10 because I thoroughly enjoyed it and several people I know have watched it and have the same view.

- 27/06/05 Strange that people still think of Stiller as an 'up and coming' comedian when he's directed, produced, written and starred in so many successful films.
