First impressions are everything! (Meet the Parents (DVD))

I was flicking through the TV channels and when I landed on BBC Three, I discovered that they were showing Meet the Parents. It is a film I had wanted to see for quite some time yet had not had the chance. Fortunately for me it was only just starting, so I sat back, hopefully to enjoy the film.

Plot:
Meet the Parents is a film about Greg Focker, and his girlfriend Pam. He goes to meet Pam's parents when they fly out for Pam's sister's wedding. Greg intends on proposing to Pam, but wants to ask her father,Jack, for his permission. However Jack does not like Greg, and the trip turns into a disaster. Greg is constantly being made fun of for being a Nurse, the cat gets in the way a little too often, and they all think he is on drugs. But can Greg convince Jack that he is actually a nice guy and finally propose to Pam?

I adored this film. I've not seen one like it, which is always a bonus. I think a lot of thought has gone into the plot- it developes beautifully. Everything connects, and there was not a moment where I was left thinking, Hang on, I don't have a clue what is going on! That is always a good thing!

Cast:
Ben Stiller plays the role of Greg, and once again his delivery is fantastic. I've yet to see a Stiller film that I dislike. This definitely shows off his fine talent with acting, and alone is enough to make you watch the film. Jack is portrayed by Robert Di Nero, a well known and talented actor. His performance was amazing, definitely the right actor for the choice. I hadn't seen Teri Polo in anything before, who plays Pam, but she definitely left a good impression on me. I'm definitely going to look out for her in other things.

Suitability:
This film is rated 12, which I feel is quite appropriate. So naturally anybody younger would be unsuited to watching it, but I don't think it has to be ruled out. It lasts for around two hours, just under, so it is quite long. It is definitely not one that you would start watching and come back later, it is so amazing that it has to be watched in one go! It is directed by Jay Roach, who has worked with other films such as 50 First Dates and Borat, so if you are a fan of his work then this is definitely worth a watch.

I adore this film, I think it is hysterical. If you are a fan of comedy then it is definitely worth a watch. Any Ben Stiller fan will love this too - he is simply amazing. It is definitely worth seeing if you get the chance, and I just cannot believe it has taken me this long to see it!
