Advantages: Donald Duck and the songs
Disadvantages: Is a little bit long
I am a big fan of Disney classics and have most of them on DVD which I got as a gift for Easter this is one of the little known DVDs from the early career of Disney. The film was released in 1948 and was the 10th Disney classic DVD to be released.
The film is set up into several mini stories each one with its own segment of music. The first one is once upon a wintertime which is a story based around two young lovers in December. The boy shows off for the girl however tragedy strikes and it becomes a rescue story. The second one is bumble boogie and is a nightmare for a bee trying to escape from a visual and musical frenzy. This one I found to be very funny. The third one is the legend of Johnny Appleseed who spent most of his life travelling around America planting apple trees which is how he received his nickname. This one is actually my favourite of all of the shorts as it add fun music with quiet a sad story which I really enjoyed. The fourth one is Little Toot in which a small tugboat who wants to be like his father keeps getting into trouble trouble. The fifth one is trees which takes place through the seasons and is only very short. The sixth one features the now very famous Donald Duck which I believe added a lot of character to the entire movie, blame it on the samba has Donald Duck and José Carioca meeting with the Aracuan Bird who introduces them to samba. The seventh and final one is Roy Rogers and the sons of the pioneers and pecos bill is about a famous hero from Texas which is another one of my favourite despite it being quiet long. The story is about the best cowboy that ever lived and his horse Widowmaker The story is based on how he was brought back down to earth by a woman named Slue-Foot Sue.
I found the music in this film to be very well composed and despite the fact that its not the best Disney classic ever made and by no means the best story the music and colours in this film make it just a delight to watch. The introduction of Donald Duck shows just how well the character has stayed in peoples hearts considering this was released in 1948. For anybody who is an avid Disney collecter this is a must and very anybody else this is a great film with good songs. For just under £5 from Amazon this film is a good cheap film that you only actually have to watch once and is well worth a watch.
Summary: A bit long but overall a fantastic movie
