Advantages: A good watch, Never a dull moment!

Disadvantages: Part of a storyline re-used, Any further movies would be a washout

‘Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back in black as the scum-fighting super-agents Kay and Jay- regulators of all things alien on planet Earth. Their latest mission: to save the world from a total intergalactic disaster!’

- - Plot - -

Open with corny tv show, explaining that the Zarthons wished to hide The light of Zartha on earth. However the Men In Black do not want to jeopardise earth, but whilst explaining this to princess Lloranna the evil Surleena appears on earth to attack them. MIB delay her long enough for Lloranna to escape with the light.
As the film properly begins we see a small gold spaceship destroy four planets, and land on earth, referred to as ‘the 3rd planet’. An adorable puppy discovers the ugly flowerheaded serpent alien, and fast retreats! Upon viweing a magazine left in the park, the serpent transforms itself into a lingerie model!
Now we meet Jeff emerging thorugh the sewer, Jays new agent Tee, makes the mistake of taking this little flower for granted and it soon rears its head to be a 600ft subway worm! Jay saves the day, well, the night, and Tee is given the boot, with an appearance of one of those cool flashy things – which my younger epileptic brother is forbidden to watch- called a neuralyzer, this wipes out memories.
Cut to a two headed alien names Scrad/Charlie he sets off with Surleena to Bens pizza place.
Laura, Bens employee walks in on them threatening Ben but is interrupted from reporting them as robbers because a gust of wind blows open the back door. Scrad comes over to look but does not see Laura hiding in a cupboard. Ben is actually an alien, he is asked about ‘the light’ and when he fails to share his knowledge Surleena skins him and snaps him in half!
Jay is now joined by the talkative, singing dog, Frank, but not for long, as he is soon left behind as Jay takes Laura to the pie resteraunt and explains himself, strngely Laura takes this all cal
mly. Jay goes against the rules, and fails to neuralyze her. Leaving all the serious stuff behind, we emerge to Frank, barking away to ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’!!

Only one agent can help find the light, agent Kay, the most important agent in the business, who retired in MIB, we now find him an old lonely postman. He is adamant that he has no idea who Jay is, and so jay follows him into his office, here he engages in hilarious alien-talk with a fellow worker, and soon all of Kays employees are removing head, arms, bodies, or wigs and exposing themselves all to be aliens!
Back at the headquarters Michael Jackson puts in a guest appearance to plead for a position in MIB! He is turned down and we rejoin Jay and Kay for the deneuralyzation – this unlocks the knowledge that Kay was blinded from in MIB1.
We now view a looooong queue of strange looking creatures ending with Surleena and Scrad, they are applying to be allowed into the public during daytime. Surleena announces she wants to become a model and flashes the man behind the counter, Scrad takes one look and faints, his other head Charlie makes a loud commotion attracting attention just as Surleena attacks, trapping all MIB agents. Except Frank who hides, and Jay and Kay who take the ‘flush’.
Kay visits Jeebs the ugly head-growing alien and is finally deneuralyzed, Surleenas goons show up and are of course defeated. Surleena herslef is at MIB headquarters with Z the head of the operation, and has just discovered Franks hiding place….
Jay and Kay return to Bens where Kay has left a trail of clues to help him, should he ever need it. Which he does! Eventually they are led to an old washed out video shop, owned by a freaky man, his young wife and his mother. We now come back to the opening story.

Kay intervenes and we view what really happened that night. The light was hidden on earth, Princess Lloranna was shot and killed just before Surleena and the
Zarthons chased a phony away from the earth. Laura wears a charm bracelet on her wrist, and soon it is glowing brightly, however Surleena reaches Laura first…
Now back at headquarters Kay takes on Surleena whilst Jay leaves to resuce Laura and the worms – not literally worms, more lyk ugly looking skinny aliens) are sent to shut down the power.
Surleena is attacked by Jay and she returns to her original serpent form, but is soon on the tail of MIB.
They now have 11 minutes to get the light sent away from earth. Surleena is led into the subway, remember Jeff? The 600ft worm? Jay sure does, and he pulls the car upwards just in time to send Surleena slamming down into the pit of Jeffs stomach.

We now discover that Laura is ‘the light’, and the daughter of Kay and Lloranna. And so she leaves in the spaceship, but not before Surleena makes her final entry and is blown to smithereens. Followed up by a LOT of fireworks and a dudey neuralyzer set high up in the Statue Of Liberty.

My Conclusion:

So basically this is an action packed film! Although I do have to say that I hope they wont make another sequel because that would be a complete washout. They’ve pushed MIB to its limits now and already used a part of the storyline twice. In MIB we find that what the aliens are searching for is symobilized on a cats collar, in MIB2 the same set up is used with Lauras charm bracelet.
The effects are very realistic and if you like this type of film MIB2 is an excellent watch and I think it excels MIB1.
If your not a fan of aliens it may not come across as very appealing. Actually I’m not particularly a fan of aliens but I do watch MIB and MIB2 rarely. Its not a film that I would watch too often, it is extremely good for a first watch but after a few times the hilarity of it wears down.
