Advantages: Great acting performances

Disadvantages: Slow going to begin with, preserve though.

George Clooney plays Michael Clayton a legal 'fixer' who gives an excellent acting performance. Clayton gives the effect of being a "big shot" with his nice car, flashy suit however he is somewhat of a failure, divorced, addicted to gambling and in debt to some dodgy characters.

Clayton work for a prestigious Manhatten law firm, where they regard him as a merely a highly-effective janitor, who cleans things up.

Arthur Eden played by Tom Wilkinson, friend and senior colleague of Clayton who has spent years defending a toxic weedkiller which is made by giant chemical company U North. Eden's mental collapse causes many problems, promting him to switch sides. Clayton is sent to contain the situation which he unsuccessfully does. U North seem to have other ideas, their ruthless chief counsel (Tilda Swinton) has more extreme plans. Swinton plays the obsessive career woman well and her acting whilst on screen with Clooney is compelling.

Personal Opinion

I am still unsure about my opinions on this film, hence the 3 out of 5 ratings. I did really like some aspects but I think the first half of the movie could have been sped up, it seems to be slow going, my girlfriend for example lost interest, I preserved and was rewarded with a great conclusion to the movie. Excellent acting performances all round, great shots which draw you into the rich world of the wealthy lawyers contrasting to the down to earth world of Clayton's family. The absorbing soundtrack adds to the ambience and feel of the film.

The film is definitely worth a watch, but be warned you won't get explosions and actions every minute of the film. You will get some great acting performances and a well sot film and an interesting story line.
