Premium Review Michael McIntyre Live & Laughing (DVD): A rising comic talent (296 words)
by - written on 20/10/09 (Very useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

Michael McIntyre has really made a name for himself as a comic in the last year or so - his comic roadshow on the BBC in particular has made him a vital talent in providing a platform for other struggling comics, and his style has evidently been very popular with the release of this DVD. At heart I am flagrantly a bigger fan of more risque comedy like Frankie Boyle, but McIntyre's brand of more observational, quirky humour succeeds largely because of his own charm. He rarely swears and instead focuses on his charismatic delivery, and although he speaks at length about his wife and child, you wouldn't be too remiss if you thought that he was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Comedy At It's Best (401 words)

Rating:

Michael McIntyre seems to be one of the biggest names in comedy at the moment. He seems to be doing what Peter Kay did about 8 years ago. This is his DVD, 'Live and laughing', and after watching it recently I decided it was worthy of a review. If you have never seen this comedian before, he is quite a simple stand up act. He is 33 years old, was born in London and sounds rather posh. His comedy is quite simple, taking everyday thigs that we are all familiar with and making them funny. I really enjoyed this DVD. Have seen clips of the comedian before but never watched all his show. I love the section of the show where he talks about his 'man ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Michael McIntyre Live & Laughing (DVD): Undisputably Funny - Comedy At Its Best (679 words)

Micheal McIntyre Micheal McIntyre is a relativly new character in the comedy world, but is fast becoming one of the most memorable stand-up comedians of the modern stage. He's already done shows such as Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You, and is already my favourite comdial at the moment. When I first saw him on Live At The Apollo I was left wanted so much more, so I didn't hesitate to purchase this DvD as soon as it came out. As it turns out, I still want more. The Performance The DVD is as simple as you could expect; aside from a short sketch at the beginning the main feature of the DVD is simply McIntyre performing basic ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Here comes Skippy! (789 words)
by - written on 15/11/09 (Very useful, 128 readings)
Rating:

He's stormed into the limelight during the past 6-12 months. His enthusiasm is catching and his generalised day to day humour is a form of pure genius! 2 showings on Jonathan Ross during 2009 and the piece de resistance, an appearance on Top Gear. Who am I talking about? Only Michael McIntyre, a guy who is filling arenas all over the country with belly aching laughter. I first saw him on shows like Mock the Week, Have I got News for You and Would I Lie to You? where he began to make an impression with his down to earth, situational humour. He then had a 6 week stint on BBC 1 where he presented Live at the Apollo Comedy Roadshow which took the place of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Michael McIntyre Live & Laughing (DVD): Live & Laughing so hard I could barely breathe! (510 words)
by - written on 12/01/09 (Very useful, 440 readings)
Rating:

I'm a fan of stand-up comedy. If even a remotely known stand-up comedian visits my local theatre then I'm there. I've seen live comedians such as Ken Dodd, Lee Evans, Jo Brand, Rob Brydon, Craig Charles, Jack Dee, Jeff Green, Ardal O'Hanlon, and others. So basically, I like stand-up comedy! After seeing comedian Michael McIntyre on TV shows such as Mock of the Week several times and finding him quirky and funny, I knew exactly what to ask for when my brother & sister-in-law asked what I wanted for Christmas - Michael McIntyre's Live & Laughing DVD. Live & Laughing is McIntyre's first live DVD, but despite only recently coming to the ...  Read the complete review
