The Mafia has been a standard subject for movies for more years than I care to recall. There were the originals, The Godfather and The Godfather II (featuring Marlon Brando, Bob De Niro and Al Pacino - I exclude the long delayed third episode in that series because it just didn't measure up), Scarface, Al Capone and Goodfellas, but in very recent times there has been a phase of utilising the genre for high comedy. Analyze This two or three years ago, with De Niro and Billy Crystal was a brilliant piece of farce, with some sharp playing between the duo and Bob showing his talent for humour. Now we have Mickey Blue Eyes, the 1999 romantic comedy starring ... Read the complete review

“Get the Heel out of hee”, no these are not typos but apparently the way you are supposed to spell mafia talk. Just “Foget abou it”, pretend you didn’t know or my friend Bradley the sheep Shearer will be forced to kill you. You do not know that mafia English has different spelling, because if you did Bradley will really have to kill you! Ok, as you may have guessed Mickey Blue Eyes is a film about the mafia, the New York Mafia to be precise. It stars, Hugh Grant as Michael, or “Little Big Kansas Mickey Blue”, James Caan as his potential father in law (Frank) and James Fox as the typical old English twit auction house ... This is another of my "Feel Good" movies, that I Love to watch especially when feeling down or being too poorly to read. It was released on DVD in 2000 and has a running time of 98 mins and is rated 15. Its classed a comedy, but I also class it a "family movie" as family life features heavily in it. The basic story is a Love story, where Michael Felgate (Hugh Grant) falls in Love with Gina (Jeanne Tripplehorn) after they have been dating a couple of months, he feels its time to meet her family. Simple, no problem...... or is it ? Why doesn't Gina want Michael to meet her family? Whats she hiding? Gina is a ... Read the complete review

This is quite an enjoyable and light-hearted comic take on the Hollywood gangster movie that most people will be familiar with. From 'The Godfather' and 'Scarface', to 'Carlito's Way', 'Goodfellas' and 'Casino', the gangster has become a byword for blood, gore, drugs and guns. And plenty of swearing, with Italians in suits shooting people and saying 'forget about it' a lot. And this film manages quite successfully to retain the stock images of your average gangster film, adding a terribly polite Englishman and some comedy to the mix for good measure. Hugh Grant manages, finally, to make a break from the ... Read the complete review

First of all before I start, if your going to watch this film, don't even bother!!! It's a traditional, Hugh Grant film, which contains Hugh's usual role of himself marrying an American woman and then at the end, he has to go to a funeral. The film, to me was a complete bore and was defintely not worth watching. So, personally I don't recommend this film (Unless you are mad about Hugh Grant, then I guarantee you'll like it!)~It's a very love-it or hate-it movie. I watched the film on a digital movie channel on Friday night and was totally dissapointed, I got so bored at stages I started to flick channels! (Especially at the beginning, ...
