Advantages: good story
Disadvantages: none really, pretty much an average film
Watched this film again the other day in preparation for the second one which is coming out. Took that long that I had forgotten what happened in the first one. This is not one of you major budget, excellent special effects and expensive actor/resses films. It was obviously made with a smaller amount of money and instead had to rely on a good storyline, which it does. The film is about a new race of insects that was introduced a few years ago. Unknown to mankind (!!) these insects have been breading and have now evolved into something much larger and more dangerous. The film is called mimic because insects often try and mimic their prey and in this case the insects have the ability to look sort of human, humans being their prey. The idea is to kill the one fertile male which obviously they didn’t manage to do if they are making a second film!. The story is a very good idea and it’s told very well in this film. Even though there are no well known actors the actual acting in it is fine, no wooden people! The effects are good enough, the film isn’t ruined by not having any lazer guns/big explosions, it makes a nice change actually. This is a good film to watch if you’re having a night in, a brilliant film to get in Blockbuster when you get a free film with your chart rental!
