Advantages: Good action
Disadvantages: limited story
Described by some as "...the best near future thriller yet". I wouldn’t go that far. The hype surrounding this film is\was too much for what it is. On the outside the special effects and the famous cast of actors shadow what is really an average film. I watched this film on a T.V. and not in the cinema, so maybe if I had watched it at the cinema I would of rated this film higher. The story follows tom cruise on his life as a futuristic policeman. In the future there are precomps, these are essentially 3 women who can see when a murder is about to take place. Their neural images are displayed on a screen and the murder suspect is captured before the murder actually happens. When tom cruise discovers a flaw in the system and then goes on to realise that he is about to murder some one, he flees. We then follow a gripping but usually predictable tale on his journey to beat the precomp system. The directorial cinematography is excellent and captures the mood of the film perfectly. The special effects are breathtaking in places and the experiences it gives you, as an audience is commendable. However as the film unfolds the plot becomes predictable and tiresome in places. The film also lasts for some two and a half hours. Although action packed from start to end the story line is not as good as it’s made it to be. At times the film can be humorous and does offer everything a film should offer. The futuristic thriller is worth your money to watch but probably won't see you returning to the cinema to watch it several times. Video sales may also suffer in the long run. This leads me to the conclusion of giving this film an average rating although I would recommend anyone to go and watch it, especially for Tom Cruise fans. Summary: -------- > Set in the future. > Nice cinematography. > Good action thriller. > Limited story line. > Predictable. > Overdone in places. > Av
erage soundtrack. > If you like this you'll love The Matrix. > Once you've seen once you'll be reluctant to watch it again. > 3\5 rating.
