'The war's not over until the last man comes home.'

Chuck Norris, Vietnam soldier and all round badass manages to escape his captors in Nam and return to the US. Whilst there American senators enlist the help of Norris to investigate any remaining POW's still left in Vietnam. This being 1980, you might expect there to be no more left, but yes there are some and its up to Chuck and a massive machine gun to rescue them.

The Vietnamese officials are all evil, with not one trace of humanity left in them. They totally deny that there is any POW's left in Nam. Norris doesn't believe them. One evening in Saigon he escapes his bedroom in the American embassy and kills one of the evil Vietnamese officials, not before telling him that there are American POW's in a camp in Saigon.

On his travels Norris decides to go it alone and with the help of a Kevlar dinghy and a massive machine gun. He dispatches hundreds - and I mean hundreds of Vietnamese soldiers

Norris pulls off a great action film here. Its an excellent 'Nam movie too - as good I would say to any Oliver Stone opus due to its realistic depiction of death and Vietnamese landscapes.

Standout scenes include Norris destroying an entire Vietnamese camp only to find one prisoner, another with him driving a truck off the end of a pier, flying through the air onto a barge. The best scene has Norris, in slow motion, emerging from a river with a massive machine gun slowly emptying rounds into huge numbers of slowly dying soldiers. Great stuff!

The direction is solid from Joseph Zito who directed the also excllent 'Invasion USA'.

Don't dismiss this film because its got Chuck Norris in it, it was a great surprise to me how good the film was. I thoroughly enjoyed it and any self respecting action film, or Vietnam film fan will enjoy it too.

There is a sequel, the aptly named Missing In Action 2, which I will be watching next - watch this space!
