Advantages: High energy film

Disadvantages: Style over substance

The second Mission Impossible film was even more stylised than the first one and overall was an enjoybale film to watch although I did have the feeling that I was watching a rather long advert for boys toys as there was a car chase featuring a porsche and an audi and some very long lingering shots on all types of electronic gadgetry.

Once again Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt the man with a number of faces and the ability to pull off daring missions, the film opens with his apparent assistance to an old friend a Scientist from Russia however the scientists discovery, a humanity threatening disease is stolen by a rogue operative called Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott). Cruise is tasked with recruting a glamourous jewel thief Nyah (Thandie Newton) who is a former lover of Ambrose to lure him out and fid out what exactly he has obtained and how he plans to use it.

This is one of those high octane films which makes up for the huge plot holes with a succession of high energy stunts and fight scenes and some fancy camera work. Some of the characters are a little one dimensional but this is compensated for with some action scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat.

As far as follow up films go I have seen a lot worse and this did a good job on entertaining the viewer.
