Advantages: tom cruise is fab and so are the stunts

Disadvantages: some of the characters are suspect

Mission Impossible II is a 2000 sequel to the highly succesful Mission Impossible film, directed by John Woo rather than Brain De Palma this time, and sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent in a secret espionage organisation.

*Synopsis*
This time we see IMF Ethan Hunt on the trail of rouge IMF agent Sean Ambrose (Dougary Scott) who has stolen a deadly virus called the 'Chimera' and the cure. Hunt is joined by Luther (back from MI 1), played by Ving Rhames, Billy and a local known thief called Nyah Nordolf-Hall. But when one of the team is infected by the deadly virus, it becomes a race against time and with over 17 million lives onthe line, it's a battle in which Ethan can't afford to lose....

*Overall*
I don't know why this film has been given so may bad reviews. I am a big fan of the MI series and i thought that John Woo did a great job of directing this as many sequels fall short of the mark left before it of its predessesor. Most of the bad reviews come from the apparently impossible stunts; especially the bike riding on just it's rear wheel (but there are stunt riders in the US who can do it) and the ridiculous foolish plotline that is completely unbelieveable. But that's why it is a movie! It's not supposed to be real. If it was based on real life then it would be a documentry and be shown on the discovery channel!

Personally I think that the stunts are brilliant; especially the car chase at the start of the film and the final fight scene between Hunt and Ambrose is well worked and choregraphed. Porbably the only downside is that Nyah (played by Thandie Newton) is a little wooden and to be honest is kind of a character that is needed for the plot but is also in most ways kind of not needed. I know that doesn't make sense but it will if you watch the film. Overall if you liked the Mission Impossible, or any spy type movies it is definatley not one to be missed.
