Advantages: High Action Stunts, Eye Candy, Soon be in the bargain bin
Disadvantages: Tom Cruise, His Ego, Appalling one liners and Bravado
Fans of the original series and even fans of the first film will be dissapointed with this effort from Tom Cruise. The sequel is very loosely based on the original series and has a distinct similarity to the first mission impossible film. The film is dominated by Tom Cruise and his ego, it is a wonder how the diminiative hollywood stars aura didnt get a credit at the end. The film is just a menagerie of Tom cruise looking good in slow motion whilst dodging bullets, it is obvious that the vertically challenged star had ultimate say in the production and directorial stakes throughout. The film shows little loyalty to the original concept of a team of proffesionals undertaking a highly skilled and 'impossible' task but proceeds to show the one man army that is Tom Cruise beat the world. Fans of action movies may enjoy the stunts, which are totally undertaken by the man himself, but I suggest that people save their money and wait until the italian job is on t.v. again, it has more to offer. Anyway you wouldnt be able to get the video out of the shop door if Mr Cruises head was on the cover.

- 27/02/02 I wish someone would do a reworking of the Mission Impossible series, but actual remain faithful to it. Rarely was there any violence - the joy of watching was seeing how well set-up each mission was, and even when something appeared to have gone wrong, it was all revealed at the end.
Welcome to dooyoo - I take it from your username you're a Man City fan? :P |
