Advantages: Good Action, Some great Guns, Fast Cars
Disadvantages: Poor Acting, Bad Plot, No Intellengence Needed
Your mission reader, if you choose to accept it, is to make it through this opinion feeling an interest and desire to learn more on the film Mission:Impossible 2. Here we go with the review then: Mission Impossible The launch of Mission Impossible saw a large scale of viewer appreciation and interest. This new type of conspiracy, plot-turning espionage action was to be the start of a whole new brand of action film. The story went as a complicated plot with twists and turns but the overall thing was easy enough to understand which made it so compelling. M:I 2 Not in anyway connected with the first one albeit the name of Ethan and who he works for, IMF, we join M:I 2 at the beginning of a soon to be global terrorist situation. The story is as follows: Ethan Hunt is an IMF agent who lives the fast life or riches, girls and cars. The beginning of the film sees us flying through the Nevada desert and arriving outside a 200 foot plus cliff face, with Ethan climbing with no ropes! Meanwhile however on the other side of the world, there is a robbery attempt being made to steal a deadly toxin and chemical known as Chimera. It infects those carrying it, and kills them within 36 hours, the infected being able to be saved by its vaccine Beleraphon within 20 hours only. Luckily the robbery attempt goes wrong but they will go back for more. It is Ethans job to get the rest of the virus and either destroy it or bring it home safely without it falling into the wrong hands. Of course to do this he needs to have someone working on the inside of renegade agent Sean Ambroise gang. This person turns out to be Nyah Hall, a beautiful and extravagant jewellery thief who once dated Sean. Of course things start to go wrong and it becomes an all out pursuit spanning the world with love, death and revenge all thrown into the plot. The Vehicle’s Throughout the film there are a number of various vehicles including cars and bikes. The first two
that stick out are that of the Porsche Boxter and the Audi TT. Along with Land Rovers, more varying sports cars and eventually two revved up motorbikes, the whole film really does have an array of powerful machines. The Actors and Cast Ethan Hunt- Played by Tom Cruise he is charming, well mannered and well, crap! His acting appearing more false than a pair of penguins going to a seals party! Seriously he does not bring about any style to the film and adds an almost fake image to the film. Sean Ambrose- Played by Dougray Scott, he does better than Cruise as at least he appears to be somewhat of a bad guy with some good scenes were he does appear to be as evil as is portrayed. Nyah Hall- Played by Thandie Newton the lady has the best charisma and charm. Being a pretty face in films really does help the acting and she has her moments but not so bad in an all round role. The Fights As this is helped with John Woo the scenes are fast and hard, however bigger and better has been done before which means they are not quite as effective. Also the sense of stupidity that only comes in the Scream Series arrives when, after being beating to a pulp and having his head smashed in, the enemy some how IS STILL RUDDY ALIVE!! Still they are fast and competitive with some senses of the Matrix thrown in. My View Overall I would say the film is OK. However anyone with half a brain will find it repetitive and boring at points. Easily predictable as it is, the film still manages to throw out a good action image. Bar the slightly degraded acting and foolish story line it does make a good sit in and watch with some mates purely for the action that is in there. With some good gun scenes too I would have to say it is worth watching though not making a great deal about it. The Papers “A high-octane, white knuckle eyelash scorching screen sensation” The Sun (yeah that’s as the curtains go up!)
r>“Tom Cruise on the top of his charismatic form” Sunday Mirror (and that’s what’s at the top, the bottom must be illegal to show!) “An all-out high octane, super-stylised adventure….with a dash of romance” The Mirror (Must be the bit where you go to the toilets!) The End Not to seem too evil, I will say this film did prove enjoyable in places. Not worth dying for or even missing lunch, but it would do just for a film to flick on and watch with a bit of relaxation, go on, why not!
