I came across this DVD by chance in Blockbusters a few years ago but now have my own copy purchased from Amazon. My copy is Dutch so I have to change the language to English for the original actors (not dubbed) voices to be heard. It is currently available New & Used from Amazon for around £16 plus p&p.

Mocking Bird Don't Sing is based on the true life story of a young girl locked away by her father as an infant. Anyone who has studied Psychology at A' Level or beyond will have heard of the case study of 'Genie' and it is on this privated girl that the film is based. 'Genie' is given the name 'Katie' in this film. I do not know if 'Katie' was the real name of the child, but I do know that 'Genie' isn't and this was just a pseudonym given to protect the child from publicity.
