Mocking Bird Don't Sing is based on the true life story of a young girl locked away by her father as an infant. Anyone who has studied Psychology at A' Level or beyond will have heard of the case study of 'Genie' and it is on this privated girl that the film is based. 'Genie' is given the name 'Katie' in this film. I do not know if 'Katie' was the real name of the child, but I do know that 'Genie' isn't and this was just a pseudonym given to protect the child from publicity.
