Grace just graduated high school and her and her best friend Emma have planned a trip to Paris for the summer. Emma is Grace's friend from her part time waitressing job and Grace's family are not to keen on her. At the last minute Grace's parents make her step sister Meg accompany the pair to Paris and Grace's is furious about this because she feels her parents don't trust her.
The trip to Paris starts off very rocky with their being a divide and Meg being the odd one out and miserable. They all end up unhappy having a big fall out after the tour they ended up booking turns out to be a disaster and they end up missing their tour bus home. Up to this point in the film I didn't really know were they would take the storyline because it just seemed like the beginning of the end and I was ready to turn it off. I think the whole story just seemed boring and there was nothing gripping me in.
Because I like to give movies a chance I continued to watch and the movie did turn itself around. As I continued to watch Grace turned out to look just like a celebrity called Cordelia. Cordelia was a bit of a rebel and skipped of to party in another country rather than attend the charity functions in Monte Carlo she was suppose to. As you have probably guessed Grace and her friends realized this and took Cordelia's place for a luxurious holiday they had wished for. From here they end up on a fun adventure which they all fall in love and find themselves. A big showdown at the end was quite entertaining.
What I liked about the plot is that it's like 3 different stories in one movie. The three girls are on holiday together but once they get to Monte Carlo it's like you get to see each of their personalties and stories separately. I liked that because It was like I got to know all of their characters rather than just the main character which was Grace. The confidence that Meg built throughout the movie was something that I really enjoyed watching because she was very closed off shy and a bit timid at the start of the movie.
I think the plot is very predictable because it felt like there was nothing original because similar things have been done before many times in the past. The plot is not identical to any other movie but certain elements have been done many times. However for me once I got into this movie it was one of those movies that are bad but you can't help but feel good watching if you can understand what I'm saying.
The main negative about this film it took long to get me into the film and if you are one to switch off quickly you won't give this movie a chance.
The acting in this film was pretty mediocre and there was nothing really outstanding. There were some parts of the movie that were really unbelievable for example when they have the fallout after missing the tour bus. This part was Grace played by Selena Gomez which I didn't find convincing because I didn't believe it and it just didn't feel like she was angry.
There are quite a few stuck up characters in this movies which fits the plot because the girls end up mingling with the rich. I think Catherine Tate who played Alicia did a good job of her role which was one of the stuck up characters.
Selena Gomez actually played two roles and I think if I picked which one she done better it would have to be her as Cordelia which was also another stuck up character.
I think this was a decent watch nothing special but one of those movies to watch when your relaxing for the day. This movie is not something I would watch over and over one time was enough. The movie was available to buy on Amazon new and used from £3.75. I wouldn't recommend hurrying and buying but if you see it on TV I would say give it a try.
