Advantages: Great film

Disadvantages: Beginning part kinda boring

This has to be the best film I have ever watched. It's one of my favourites.

I can't remember the first time I watched it, I think I was about 14 me and my dad were at his and he put it on ... I'm not normally into music ones where theres loads of singing and dancing but this was just amazing. Especially the scene in Satine's bedroom and also on the elephant those bits were just fantastic.

The film is contorversial and I would recommend your careful showing young children this film because of the sexy bits that appear in the film.

THE PLOT

Moulin Rouge is set in Paris at the start of the 1900's, with Ewan McGregor on his type writer. The next bit is a bit of a blur, because when I watch it, I just skip to the bit where he sings for the first time.

Satine (Kidman) mistakes Christian (McGregor) for the Duke and tells him she's in love with him, when she finds out he's not the duke she tells him she lied but secretly does feel something. Later on he visits her and convinces her 'Love' is a good thing, not a bad thing like she's been led to believe.

They begin a love affair, right underneath the Duke's nose.

OTHER

McGregor's performance no matter how good of a singer Kidman is steals the show, he's a fantastic actor and an amazing singer and makes this film what it is. Nicole Kidman and Ewna McGergor's performances in this film were amazing and really made the film worth watching. Her performances of 'Come What May' are beautiful and does bring a tear to your eye.

One of the best songs on the film is Your Song which is orginally done by Elton John but Ewan McGregor does it sooo much better.
The film is very artistic and visually it's amazing, Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman fit as a couple, they're both amazing singers and the chemistry's amazing.

Baz Lurhman is one of the best directors around, lots of people haven't even heard of this Australian director but have definitely seen his films: Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet and even Strictly Ballroom, with all these under his belt he's definitely one of the best there is.

It's just a good movie, there's nothing more I can say except give it a chance, it's worth watching the whol thing even though the start is pretty boring but without watching the start you would not understand the rest of the film and there is scenes where you feel like 'are they insane' but when you see the story there, you begin to fall in love with the characters.

Hope this helped.
