O.K., so i had my reservations about going to see a soppy love story, i mean, i'm into hard core horror (!)(for those of you who have read my jeepers creepers review!) But i was bored and off i went to the cinema anyway, armed with my big box of tissues and my extra large diet coke.

The film is set in Bohemian Paris. A young writer (Ewan) mover to an appartment with intentions to write plays, but shortly becomes involved in a play with a group of, how can i put it, social misshaps.

He meets the charecter played by nicole and in a very very funny meeting, they fall for each other and begin an affair. BUT, and, quite frankly, there would be no story without the twist that nicole is a whore and has been promised to a man that is paying for the renovation of the moulin rouge. And only to him.

Ewan writes a play for the moulin rouge, where a young courtisan is promised to a rich maharajah but falls for a poor sitar player. The man who nicole is promised to becomes aware of this, and tells the man who owns the moulin rouge that either she is soley for his pleasure, or the writer is killed.

Im not going to tell you the ending because you should go and see it for yourself. But i can say that this film is fantastic! The use of modern songs, surreal props and the fact that Ewan and Nicole have fantasic voices, makes this film a great one to watch although i wouldn't reccomend it for those who hate romance stories, or those who are easily depressed(!)
