Mrs Dalloway, another adaptation of a Virginia Woolf 1925 novel. Brought to life by the Oscar winning director Antonia’s Line. Released in 1997 this English language film in colour lasts for 93 minutes or at least the free DVD I got from the Daily Mail did. The film is PG (parental guidance) and considered fit for viewing by under 12 year old under parental guidance. The film is set in 1923. ***THE STORY*** The story starts with a scene of war in Italy (1918). Introduction I just love freebies and although I’m not a fan of The Daily Mail, it was worth buying to get my hands on this DVD. Having watched and loved The Hours, inspired by Virginia Woolf’s groundbreaking novel, Mrs Dalloway, I’ve since become interested in Virginia Woolf’s work and the opportunity to watch the film version of Mrs Dalloway was too good to miss. This is not an action-packed film; like much of Virginia Woolf’s work, it is centred on people’s thoughts and how they cope with what life has thrown at them. Well worth a watch.
