You can buy this for about £3 in HMV and Tesco, and if you haven't seen it before I highly recommend that you do! The film was made in 1993, and the DVD released in 1994. It is also a PG classification, and the DVD is a region 2. It also features subtitles in Czech, Danish, English, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, and Norwegian. The film has a running time of 125 minutes.
To put it simply, I just love this film! I know it is almost twenty years old but it it such a classic! Robin Williams is so funny, and plays the part of Mrs Doubtfire and Daniel Hillard brilliantly. The basic storyline is that Daniel hosts a party for his son and makes a mess of the house. This is the final blow for Miranda Hillard (Sally Field) who asks for a divorce. Then, as Daniel only receives visitation rights to see his children at the weekend he applies to be a housekeeper for the family, as Mrs Doubtfire! The family find out eventually, but it does have a happy ending.
There are so many one-liners and funny parts to the film; for example when Mrs Doubtfire gets chatted up by the bus driver on his/her way home! Also, it is funny when Miranda starts dating Stu (Pierce Brosnan), and Mrs Doubtfire throws a lime at his head and blames it on a chef! There are so many, making it an all time classic.
I find the story really endearing and hilarious, and it flows really well, meaning you do not get bored at any point during the film. I think it is also suitable for most age groups as the story is family orientated and there are different jokes to suit different ages.
Overall, if you want a funny light-hearted film with a good storyline and acting I would definately watch this film!
Summary: A classic family film that is hilarious and uplifting
