After taping My Best Friend's Wedding off the TV a few years ago, it quickly became one of my favourite films ever and I've watched it more times than I can count. This only becomes a problem when the film starts to get lines running across it and the sound flickers, and I was just starting to reach this stage when I happened to become the proud owner of a DVD player. Almost as if it was fate, I also found the My Best Friend's Wedding Collectors Edition DVD in a Woolworths sale that same week! This film falls into the class of romantic comedy, and if hearing this has put any of you off, or made you think it's just a sappy love story, then think ... Read the complete review

My Best Friends Wedding is a better than average romantic comedy mainly because it atempts to be a little different to the rest of the films in this genre, if I tried to explain why then I would inevitably lead to ome plot spoilers so you will just have to take my word on it. The main star is Julia Roberts who plays Julianne Porter, while at college she made a pact with her best friend Michael (Dermot Mulroney) that if neither of them were married by the time they were both 28 then they would marry each other. Still single at the age of 28 Julianne is rather shocked to get a call from Michael however it is to annonce the fact that he is to get married, this ... Read the complete review

My Best Friend's wedding is the sort of film that I would define as being simplistic, yet complex when it comes to depicting relationships between people. I cried so much at this film that I could barely see through my tears and had to watch is all over again in order to write my review! The film can certainly make people , because of the double edged knife feature that is depicted all throughout: It is a typical triangle and I tended to be split between the two perspectives that were shown. It is both a sad and happy movie- it just depends on whose side you are on. PLOT: Julianne is an ambitious food critic who was never fond of and relationships. When her ... Read the complete review

My Best Friend's Wedding follows Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) and her relationship with her best friend, Michael O'Neal (Dermot Mulroney). After once dating many years ago and realising that the relationship wasn't working, Julianne and Michael remained best friends and they share a very special bond. When Michael announces that he is getting married, Julianne feels extremely jealous and she comes to realise that she is still in love with him. She immediately jets off to Chicago to meet Michael and his new fiancé Kimberly (Cameron Diaz), intending to stop the wedding from going ahead and to bring Michael home. However, when she meets Kimmy, she realises ... Read the complete review

My best friends wedding directed by P J Hogan and written by Ronald Bass I got this as a stocking filler a few years ago, even though I wanted three to tango, which is a brilliant film. But I guess that fate turned out for the best, because it has ended up being one of my favorite films. Starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney and Rupert Everett, this makes a wonderful, most entertaining film. It starts off in a restaurant, where all the chefs are rushing round because Jules (Julia Roberts) is a food journalist and so they are trying to impress her. She is eating in the posh, over expensive restaurant with her fun, gay friend George ... Read the complete review
