My Bloody Valentine (DVD)

A review of the 2008 remake of the film directed by Patrick Lussier the region 2 DVD was released on June 8th. A serious mining accident leaves several men dead and just one survivor but when the men's bodies are properly examined, it becomes clear that they were brutally murdered. All suspicion points to the one survivor, Harry Warden, but his comatose state yields no clues, that is until he awakes and goes on a murderous rampage, killing many more victims before being cornered by the police. I'm not a film buff, nor have I written a film review before, however, I saw this film three days ago and I'll try to tell you about it. The film begins with news readings and newspaper cuttings of a tragedy that happened in the town where miners became trapped after an explosion. The explosion is blamed on the son of the mine owner, Tom. no survivors are expected as the miners were trapped four miles from the mine opening. When rescuers do find the trapped men, there is one survivor (Harry Warden) who is recovered in a coma. The Facts: Certificate 18 (and, trust me, it really earns it!), Running Time - 97 Minutes The Plot: (Other reviewers here have done very good reviews so I'll just provide a basic overview) This is a basic run-of-the-mill slasher gorefest with plenty of 3D cinematic tricks to keep you ducking behind your chosen shield (in my case it was a rather nice plump cushion).
