Advantages: Fun, irrelevant, cooky, unconventional fun

Disadvantages: None. I watch it whenever I'm bored

I bought this as it stars one of my favourite actors at the minute, Jon Heder (Blades of Glory, The Benchwarmers). Napoleon Dynamite is a sweet coming-of-age film which seemed to evade the Oscars glory in 2004. Napoleon is a geeky fifteen year old who lives on a farm in Southern Texas with his Grandma and his socailly inadequate brother, Kip.

He spends most of his days drawing mythical beasts like the Liger, which is a cross between a lion and a tiger and avoiding his bullying Uncle Rico. However when Uncle Rico and Kip cook up a home selling scheme Napoleon starts to feel lonely and help comes in the shape of 2 new friends.

Enter Mexican student Pedro, the only guy in school with a moustache and the shy retiring Deb, who likes Napoleon but he is too shy to talk to girls. In an attempt to stop the bullies at school the trio devise a plan to elect Pedro as the student president but he must overcome all popular alpha-female Summer.

The DVD to me, is a cult classic. It isn't the greatest or funniest movie ever but there are some great moments my favourite being Napoleon slapping his Uncle Rico or when Rico and Kip buy a time machine off the internet. Its one of those films that keep you waiting for the inevitable, hilarious climax.

Summary: Geeky kid overcomes the odds to get the girl. A classic.
