note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room I am a big fan of independent cinema; so often the films from that tenet represent interests and ideas that are too edgy and clever for mainstream audiences, but also sometimes they're on the fringe of the box office because they're too quirky and self-consciously, indulgently ... (film only review) Introduction Napoleon Dynamite is an American comedy and was originally released back in 2004. The film was a big success at the box office and with film critics considering its relatively small budget. Napoleon proved to be a bit of an anti hero character. The film can have a bit of a love/hate ... Read the complete review

I had seen the trailers for this film and was thinking of going to see it in the cinema but never had the time. I was in my nearest Xtra Vision browsing to hire a dvd out for the night and came across this film. I wasnt expecting to like it as it looked a bit strange but thought i would give it a go anyway. If you have never ... Read the complete review

This is such a lovable and heart warming film. Napoleon lives in a very small town somewhere im guessing in the South of the U.S.A. He lives at home with his Grandma and older brother. The two brothers are the biggest looking 'geeks' you could possibly imagine; tall, very skinny, huge glasses, shirts done up t the top and socks up to ... Read the complete review

I've just read the review by richards123 and i have to agree that you'll either love this film or hate it, and like Marmite, i hate it!!
Rented this out one sunday afternoon after my wife banged on about how good this film she'd heard about was meant to be. Trust me, if you think this is funny, you need the top of you're head removing and your frontal lobe giving a good whack.
This is the biggest pile of pants since Vanessa Feltz tipped her laundry basket upside down!!!!!
Like Vanessa, give it a wide berth. you've been warned!

It's difficult to rate this film as a whole. It's really a 'hate it or love it' kind of film. It would lean more towards the indie genre, and goes against the more 'traditional' approach to how films should be, or are conceived to be. The plot revolves around protaganist/hero/main character of Napoleon. I think it's safe to reveal he ... Read the complete review

I bought this as it stars one of my favourite actors at the minute, Jon Heder (Blades of Glory, The Benchwarmers). Napoleon Dynamite is a sweet coming-of-age film which seemed to evade the Oscars glory in 2004. Napoleon is a geeky fifteen year old who lives on a farm in Southern Texas with his Grandma and his socailly inadequate brother, ... Read the complete review

Let's start off by saying this film has completely split many of my friends and myself. They either love it, hate it or say they do not get it. I think a film like this is very much like a powerful song, it might have a specific meaning to whoever wrote it but it is completely open to interpretation. Personally, I loved it but at the ... If you're a fan of Seinfeld and things in the vein of "this is really a show or movie about nothing", then Napoleon Dynamite is your movie of choice. Napoleon is one of the nerdiest, awkwart characters ever conceived on a movie screen. He's tall, lanky, and nerdy, and worst of all he really think's he 's something. He has a ... Now, society seems divided on Napoleon Dynamite, with many people stating that it is a film that you get or you don't. I figured i'd break a trend and give it 3 stars, as i got it, but still thought it is only a mediocre ovie. Now, before people say i don't get it, i really do! Yes, it's indie, yes, it's funny, yes, it examines in great detail the ... Read the complete review

The tagline for Napoleon Dynamite is: 'He's out to prove he's got nothing to prove'. I'd have removed the last two words...except that Napoleon Dynamite has 82 minutes of my life I can never replace. Take the premise that some high school media studies students were lent a camera and given a small grant as a budget. The result is a film ... Read the complete review

What is this bizarre little film, you might think?.....Well, it's about a geek, and it's brilliantly geeky.....It champions being geeky, because all the other characters seem so dull and stupid in comparison.... The main 'geek' isn't especially geeky, in fact he just gets on with things in a clever kind of way. It's this conceit that ... Read the complete review

This film is perfect for anybody who never quite fit in at high school (and I think that would be pretty much everyone in one way or another!). Napolean Dynamite is played superbly by Jon Heder (Blades of Glory); an awkward teenage social misfit struggling to cope with even the most basic skills. Napolean lives with his grandmother and his simple ... Read the complete review

This is a very, very strange film. It's more like a stream-of-conscious documentary about very very nerdy kids. It's laugh out loud funny, but I can't help but feel depressed everytime I watch this indie classic. Jon Heder is brilliant as the accredited Napoleon Dynamite - social reject and king of dorks. The story follows his life at ... Read the complete review

If you're looking for a film with a great storyline, punch lines for the whole family to understand with outrageous one liners, then look elsewhere. Wow. I haven't seem a film so long with no plot at all and where nothing happens for such a long time. He meets a hispanic fellow school student called Pedro and they ... Read the complete review

This is the story of a teenager called Napoleon Dynamite. He's socially awkward and probably a bit autistic and to be honest that's the film more or less in a nutshell. The film takes place over a short period of Napoleon's life while at school where everybody is socially awkward. There are some shots of a Jock as he gurns away which makes him ...
