Last night my dad and me decided it was about high time we plodded through a few of the DVD's that we have purchased but yet to watch. After debating over which one it should be however we eventually settled on Ned Kelly, shoved it in the player and sat back to watch. Now vaguely remembering watching this film before I knew it was going to be good but my dad, not really being a fan of 'modern films' as he puts it wasn't exactly expecting much. I am pleased to say however that once again daughters film choice prevailed and even he had to admit that it was pretty damn good. Ned Kelly was released in 2003 and tells the true story of how you can kill a man but ... Read the complete review

I quite like films that are based on true events but don?t stray too far from the truth. So I sat down last night to watch the story of the Irish-Australian outlaw Ned Kelly. For anyone not familiar with the legend Edward ?Ned? Kelly was at one time the most notorious outlaw in the world. The film interested me on quite a few levels. The fact it was actually based quite closely on the events of Kelly?s life made it a film I was keen to see. The film begins 3 years before the main events and Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger) is arrested and imprisoned for stealing a post masters horse. Of ... Read the complete review

Ned Kelly is the 2003 film from director Gregor Jordan, based on the book by Robert Drewe, and tells the tale of the notorious Australian outlaw. The Plot While the Americans had the Wild West and we see and hear about Westerns and tales from that age, it is often easy to forget that Australia, too, had similar circumstances at the time, and also had a large influx of Irish people, many of whom became bushrangers and farmers. This film tells the tale of one such man in North-West Victoria, Ned Kelly, whose family owned horses and a farm, and relied on their land and animals to survive. Following a wrongful imprisonment, Ned Kelly attempts to ... Read the complete review

This is the story of the legendary outlaw of Australia. How he came to be and his untimely death. On the whole i found it to be rather a pleasant watch. It wasn't too difficult and i felt that i may have learnt something from watching. Of course being based on a true person the events in the film have to be taken with a pinch of salt. However i didn't really know anything before seeing the film and so at least i know roughly of his existence. Staring the late Heath Ledger, and the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Orlando Bloom, its a well acted story. Orlando isn't bad in it, but Heath takes centre stage, and acts out the role with fair conviction. No complaints ... Read the complete review

Ned Kelly was famous as being the first Australian outlaw (not hard as they were all irish criminals). Ned was the first member of the Kelly family to be born in Australia. Ned's father died, and thus forcing young Ned to be the breadwinner at just 12. His mother was arrested because a vengeful policeman filed a false report, which cost her three years in jail. Kelly was a cattle rustler as early as 13, and he had his first brush with the law at 14, when he was arrested for assaulting a chinaman. Later he would become Australias "Robin Hood", a hero to the poor and an enemy of the rich. He led the "Kelly Gang" into ... Read the complete review
