Nick of Time is a 1995 film directed by John Badham. The film features a rather Germanic looking Johnny Depp who looks quite a long way from his stylish persona as Jack Sparrow as we know him mostly these days - he has short hair and glasses as Gene Watson. Depp's acting was superb as he plays the part of an innocent man caught up in a plot to assassinate Governor Eleanor Grant.

Watson is no killer but his daughter who has already lost her mother recently is being held by captors who will kill her if Watson doesn't kill Governor Eleanor Grant. The film is shot in real-time more or less and it's on the edge stuff, every time Watson tries to get out of killing her - the evil Mr. Smith played by Christopher Walken is waiting.

As the film goes on, the plot thickens and more people become involved, whilst this was made in 1995 so has a relatively modern feel, the style of the film seems very similar to an older film, in particular one by Hitchcock. The little girl played by Courtney Chase is another very strong character, as she continuously asks annoying questions, some of which are really quite humorous. Full of suspense, this is a film that shouldn't be watched in tired mode! As good a thriller as I've seen in recent times.
