No Country For Old Men is a 2007 thriller adapted for the screen and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones. It's 1980 and Llewellyn Moss (Brolin) comes across a drug deal gone wrong whilst out hunting. With numerous dead bodies scattering the scene he comes across one man teetering on the brink of death begging for agua - water - but having none he leaves him to his fate to find the last man. When he catches up to him the man has already died from his wounds but Llewellyn finds he is in possession of a briefcase containing 2 million dollars. A Texan welder stumbles across two million dollars of drug money, left in a vehicle after a shoot out which leaves men strewn around dead and dying. He makes the bad, bad decision to take it, then makes the even worse decision to return and give water to one of the dying men. He is seen, and a psychopathic hit man gets on his trail with dire consequences for the welder, his family, and sundry other innocent people who get in the way. I'm not on principle against violence in a film if it serves a purpose; but I do believe a film should engage me, my attention and sympathies fully. "There Are No Clean Getaways" Having reviewed the Coen Brother's latest offering 'Burn After Reading', I decided it was time to take a look at their previous film 'No Country for Old Men', which promised to be a more brutal and bloody movie and certainly not as playful as the majority of the American directors previous films. Set in Texas, No Country for Old Men tells the story of Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) who finds two million dollars in a bag near the bodies of several drug dealers.
