The last couple of years have seen a glut of films starring Hollywood love-him-or-hate-him Marmite man Seth Rogen - most of them directed, produced, or written by Judd Apatow. Whilst a percentage of these movies are entirely watchable and occasionally funny, there are a few which are incredibly poor and well worth steering clear of. Rogen's Latest film is so poor that even Apatow didn't want to put his name to it - so instead, Jody Hill had the pleasure of directing 'Observe and Report' Rogen plays 'Ronnie Barnhardt', a security guard at the local mall who has delusions of grandeur. Barnhardt takes his job a little too seriously, and when a serial flasher ... Read the complete review

When I came across Observe Report it was highly recommended by a friend who said how it was the funniest thing he had ever seen, he laughed from start to finish and that Seth Rogen was hilarious. Unfortunately after watching this poor excuse of a comedy, for all the rave reviews I received off friends about it I expected at least a few funny moments but I waited and waited but they never ever came. I couldn't of disagreed with my friend more as only one of the things he said was true, Seth Rogen is funny... infact about as funny as a migraine, therefore not at all! The film plot is about mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt (Rogen) who attempts to catch a man who ... Read the complete review

It seems strange that a comedy about a shopping centre security official hasn't been written before. These low-skilled uniformed officials have all the facade of authority, with virtually no real power. Ill-equipped by either age or physical condition to chase after little scallies pinching from the Pick n Mix, and nowhere near hard enough to provide any real deterrent to serious headcases, theirs is a grandly impotent role, whose service to society's consumers consists typically of doing little more than moving along blanket-carrying crackheads and street drinkers back out into the rain. It's still stranger that two films about this profession come out at ... Read the complete review

Note: originally written for my film review website, ShaunMunro.co.uk, thanks! ~~~ The Foot Fist Way director Jody Hill's first attempt at a mildly mainstream comedy, Observe and Report, is sure to, by its sheer conception, draw comparisons to Jim Carrey's criminally underrated dark comedy The Cable Guy. Both films feature a comedian who has recently made it big (this time substituting Carrey for Seth Rogen), and each subverts the expectations of their audience, in bringing something far different, and far more challenging to the table than, say, Dumb and Dumber, or Knocked Up. Playing out like Paul Blart: Mall Cop for adults, the premise ... Read the complete review

Seth Rogen certainly is of an acquired taste. If you do like him, and his brand of 'ball-out' comedy, then this film is for you, others may balk at the grossness on screen. If you liked his previous work in Superbad and Knocked Up, then this film is basically more of the same, but with added foulness. Basically Rogen plays Ronnie Barnhardt, a mall cop in The Forest Mall shopping centre. He likes his job, but has a very in your face sort of style. The mall has recently been plagued by a flasher, a fat guy showing his bits to all the lady employees - and Rogen's dream lady 'Brandi (Anna Faris) who worked at the makeup counter. Barnhardt makes it his mission to ... Read the complete review
