Old School (DVD) ... the DVD: PAL / Jovial comedy Old School sees three thirtysomething friends with woman troubles (Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn) deciding to form a college fraternity. It's supposedly to save Wilson from losing his house, which the nearby college is trying to claim for academic purposes, but really Ferrell and Vaughn are desperate to return to the reckless, feckless days of beer bongs and hot chicks, and they drag Wilson along with them as they throw themselves into gathering frat pledges of all ages. Old School could have been just another string of bad jokes hanging on a flimsy plot, but the script and the cast have energy and just enough grounding in reality--at least, up until the obligatory beat-the-system ending, but by that point you'll forgive the excesses of this silly, cheerful, and frequently funny movie. Featuring Jeremy Piven and Juliette Lewis, with cameos by Snoop Dog, Andy Dick, and others. --Bret Fetzer

... acting central figure in the situation. It is Ferrell that steal the show though, his naked run down the street is a talking point around the world. The story is silly, but it is supposed to be. This sort of film is just about having some cheap laughs and being entertained. The fact that it is well written and stars some great comediens means that it doesn't feel very cheap, infact this film is a real keeper. The plot is all about having fun, and it really translantes off the screen. This is a very likeable film...more

Premium Review Old School (DVD): Frank The Tank (301 words)

Rating:

Now as movie reviews never were my strong point I'm not gonna go blow my own trumpet and say this will be mind blowing, but the movie is. Fom the opening scenes at the uni to the cameo's by Dan Finnerty and his band (The Dan band, also in Todd Phillips movie of "Starsky and Hutch"). Those that know the actors and director know what to expect if you have watched (and enjoyed) Anchorman or Dodgeball this is right up your ally, even if your more of an american pie person this movie should be feeling like it's been made just for you. The same childish and silly humour. Though from Will Ferrel, Vince Vaughan and Luke Wilson what more would you be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Hoot!! (183 words)

Realeased in 2006 by Dreamworks. Old School is simply jam-packed with gags and silly adult behaviour.... I was quite optimistic considering it boasts actors such as Vince Vaughan, Will Ferrel and Luke Wilson, and a guest appearance from Snoop Dogg, and Old School certainly did not disappoint! The main charachter, Mitch, is a 30-something business man who comes home early to find his wife has been cheating... with more than one partner...... He leaves and finds himself a house on college campus, which quickly turns into an all out party house turning his life upside down. Upon pending eviction, Mitch and his mates decide that to keep the house ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Old School (DVD): In detention (1016 words)

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Having just recovered from Just Married, theediscerning ventures to a preview screening of Old School. And what does he find? The same pathetic mix of naff jokes, peurile smuttiness, and hopelessly uninteresting people as before - only this time they're older. Old School seems to be trying to fill that most important (and hitherto non-existent) category gap, the campus-comedy-for-the-30-year-olds. What it does is concern three friends, all early thirties or so. One is just getting married, despite being an alcoholic who has a habit of going off the deep end (what spills!). One, who is a real estate lawyer ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Back to school (694 words)
by - written on 26/08/09 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:

Old School is a comedy film, released in 2003 and stars Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell. The unrated version is 92 minutes long, the rated version is 91 minutes long, and I don't really see how an extra 1 minute justifies a second DVD release. The film is rated 15 due to strong sexual content, nudity and language. Plot When Mitch comes home from a business trip and finds his girlfriend having an orgy, his life turns into a bit of a mess. While at his friend Frank's wedding, he meets high school crush, Nicole and makes a fool out of himself while drunk. Realising that he needs to get on with his life, Mitch moves into a house near Harrison ...  Read the complete review
