Oliver Twist is about a 9 year old orphan boy living in the 1880s and who lives in a work house. One day Oliver loses a short straw game with his friends which means he has to go and ask the big mean govner Mr Bumble for more food. But of course Mr Bumble is outraged at Olivers greed and the poor little thing gets sold to an undertaker. At the undertakers they are just as horrible to Oliver and he is bullied by the teenage son, so Oliver runs away. He finds himself in London were a boy named the Artful Dodger finds him and takes him to Fagin, a greedy old man who has lots of small boys living with him to go thieving for him. This new version of Oliver Twist is by far greater than any other version of the orphan boy by Charles Dickens... apart from the BBC televised version produced in 2007 which starred the amazing and most famous Timothy Spall (who plays peter Pettigrew aka Wormtail in the Harry Potter films) and Julian Rhind-Tutt who has since appeared in the BBC televised version of Merlin in episode 6 'a remedy to cure all ills'. Devoid of the cheerful tunes of the musical, which either make it wonderful or gooey, depending on your point of view - this has a bit of a grittier outlook, it's not all doom and gloom though, it delves in to the emotional side quite a lot. Kingsley was outstanding as Fagin, I forgot that he was in it in fact and didn't recognise him until the titles at the end! The story is more true to the book but Oliver is a bit older than he should be and his ... Read the complete review

Oliver Twist is a interesting film. It keeps you glued to your seets and its a film for all the family with bits of comedy and emotion. The film is about a young boy which is an orphan called oliver who is moved around to different orphanages regularly. As he grew up he was forced to work and live in a warehouse. Afterwards he ran from the warehouse and ended up in london, here he was found by a man called Fagan who took him him and taught him how to steal. I enjoyed many parts of the movie especially the parts when Oliver is being taught and his character devepment during the movie. He grows in confidence and learns much from Fagan. Oliver twist is a long film and some ... Read the complete review
