Elia Kazan's 1954 film 'On the Waterfront' is a true classic that appears to have been largely forgotten, despite picking up eight Oscars and four additional nominations at the Academy Awards that year. Primarily famous for the line "I coulda been a contender" and the electric scene surrounding it, it is a film that improves on repeated viewing even though it is nearly fifty years old. It is a film that is rich in detail, showcasing an extraordinary performance from the film's lead, supported well by some equally able actors and complimented by an atmospheric score. No film lover could have possibly missed seeing one of the most famous scenes in film.
