Director: Tony Dow Producer Gareth Gwenlan Writer: John Sullivan This hour long Christmas special was first aired on Christmas day 1996, released onto DVD in 2004, and was the first of the 1996 trilogy of specials from the Only fools team. **BRIEF PLOT... The future doesn't look to bright for Rodney, (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Cassandra, (Gwyneth Strong) as a grown-up Damien, (Douglas Hodge), seems to be ruling a world where everyone is at war with each other. Del, (David Jason), and Raquel, (Tessa Peake-Jones) live in a mansion and Uncle Albert, (Buster Merryfield) is not quite himself, but continues to waffle on about his ... Read the complete review

Only Fools and Horses returned to our screens after a long absense with this hillarious episode back in 1996. This was the first part of a trilogy of 1 hour episodes that would leave the Trotters earning their ultimate goal, and we all know what that was. The gap in action has not changed things with regards to the standard of comedy rapport and timing on show from all of the cast here. A great episode of an all-time classic, 'Heroes and Villains' bears all the hallmarks of the Only Fools and Horses series. From slapstick humour to witty one-liners, this episode delivers all viewers have come to expect from the classic series. Perhaps the best moment of the episode is where Del Boy and Rodney emerge from their Reliant Robin wearing Batman and Robin outfits. Fortunately, John Sullivan saw the full potential of this storyline, and developed it into a string of amusing gaffes. Firstly, the humour of this scene is extended by an amusing encounter between the Trotters (dressed as Batman and Robin) and Councillor Murray. Secondly, it transpires on ... Read the complete review

Heroes and Villains is an extremely well known episode of Only Fools and Horses, most notably because of the memorable part in which Del and Rodney dress up as Batman and Robin to go to a fancy dress party but when there is a spate of muggings, it's left to them to save the day. As far as the later special-feature length episodes go, this is pretty good - there's a decent storyline and all of the usual cast are on form. There's one particularly gross scene which is extremely amusing! The one thing that doesn't fit in and something that I've always thought was not apt for Only Fools and Horses is Rodney being scared of Damian, thinking he's a demon and his ...
