** BRIEF PLOT...

With Rodney, (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Cassandra, (Gwyneth Strong) expecting there first baby all is happy in the Trotter household.
Although Rodney soon begins to realise that his future working for Trotters Independent Traders is not what he wants, making him feel he has to get a proper job. But when he applies for one he sees in the local paper, he soon discovers he knows how to do that job only too well, much to Del's amusement.

Del, (David Jason), is trying to change his attitude to life after reading a book about modern man, making decisions witch make even Raquel, (Tessa Peake-Jones) wince. But as Del is trying to please others his mind is on other things, such as trying to offload what he thinks are hairdryers and some horse riding helmets that he swears are crash helmets. Plus, he is also trying to avoid a very disgruntled Dr Singh, who is not happy about some paint he bought from him, although Dr Singh gives Del an idea on how to re-advertise the helmets.

But as the Trotters brothers begin to believe that there lives are going well Rodney receives some rather distressing news, leaving them all distraught, causing the very upset Del to bring his own form of justice to a rather aggressive patient in the waiting room.

** IN CONCLUSION...

Yet another cracker from the mind of the imaginative Mr Sullivan, creating some brilliant comedy with some cracking scenarios.

In this episode we see a different side to Del, with Sullivan bringing the little man into the 21st century, trying to give him a feminine side now that he has settle down with Raquel.

Again, as in all Only fools episodes, this one is a mix of several hilarious little stories combining into one cracking ending. Little stories such as how Del goes about selling his stock off, what he calls 'horse riding helmets than some 'git' has sprayed red', or even how Rodney regrets applying for a job which he feels he is suited exactly for him. Both those stories, and several others, would be comical stood alone, but when they merge together you know that you're in for some real treats.

The all round acting is excellent, never letting the Only Fools saga down at all.
With Jason still being the usual ducking and diving little man, giving his all as he tries to make Del out to be a modern man.
Lyndhurst continues to excel as Rodney, the lanky brother, with his marriage troubles. And in this episode he really shows his emotional side with some grace.
Peake-Jones and Strong are well established as the Trotters partners, both actresses giving such cracking performances to create one brilliantly comical episode.
Then we have Merryfield, who has remained the same old sea-dog since joining near the start of series 4, with his dirty white beard and 'during the war' stories.

This episode has its usual comical moments, with many hilarious comments made by the cast, including a quick comment from Mike after buying one of Del's 'hairdryers' and a cracking announcement from Del himself during a conversation with Raquel. Together with a brilliantly comical telephone conversation with Ivor Hardy as Rodney applies for a new job, which will have you crying with laughter.

In all, a typically hilarious episode with a vast amount of comical scenes, although in this episode there is a rather 'upsetting' twist towards the end, maybe the saddest point of the Only fools saga ever.

If you do want a copy of this episode then go to www.amazon.co.uk and get one for less than £7.00, a what a bargain indeed, even without any extras on the disc.

Summary: Even Del has a soft side, for a while anyway.
