Outnumbered has a very simple underlying theme. It's basically a view into the life of two parents who are namely outnumbered by their three children. The show is in fact half improvised, most of which is given to the younger characters-

Jake, 12, who in this series is suspected of having a girlfriend (Jo) by his Mum and Dad (Pete and Sue). Ben, the middle child, who continously tells lies and is a fan of Little Britain and Karen,6, a very inquisitive little girl who likes to ask lots of questions.

In series 2 we see a new character, Barbara, their neighbour who is seemingly brilliant at raising her children. There are 7 episodes altogether each unique in every way. Ranging from 'executive bridesmaid' Karen asking the bride about her ex boyfriends and Ben asking the vicar questions relating to the baby Jesus and lasers to Karen writing a letter to the prime minister asking for her teacher to be fired and Ben ending up in casualty.

Overall, most of the funny antics are to do with Karen and Ben. With Pete, Sue and Jake all their to set up exactly the right scenes. In some places it is a bit obscure and you're not always sure if something is funny or not. Then you have the places where it's obvious something has been said which wasn't in the lines. You can visably see Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner as Pete and Sue trying to think of something appropriate to say.

And the fact is everybody involved are very good at the acting side of things as well!

This is an enjoyable little series which I am pleased to announce will be coming back some time this year. It mixes humour with an acutal storyline behind it and can make you laugh at sometimes such small things.

Ahh Karen and Ben amuse me so much. They completely make the show. Apparently the children make up their lines quite a lot! x
