We hired this from Lovefilm and was suprised that the whole film was subtitled. Its set during the spanish civil war and involves a little girl called Offelia and her encounters with a "Faun".. (a mystical talking tree like charachter). The whole film was very, very bizaarely beautiful, and was one of the few films that Ive managed to stay awake throughout! Certificate 15, but there is one particularly gruesome scene in it. Sergi Lopez played a fantastic part as Captain Vidal the fascist. The film's set in 1944, at the end of the Civil War. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, 'Pan's Labyrinth' or 'El Laberinto del Fauno' is a disturbing tale of war-time brutality interspersed with a selection of beautifully crafted fantasy sequences.
