Disadvantages: Everything

Paul Blart is a fat mall cop with dreams of becoming a real policeman. He takes his job at the mall very seriously so when armed intruders try and break into the mall one evening he must prove his worth. Yawn.

Paul Blart Mall Cop was a very painful watch. It's so called 'comedy' was of the lowest common denominator and would probably make even Timmy Mallett turn away in disgust. It really was just awful - especially when you consider the films $26 million dollar budget and how many wells in Africa that could have paid for.

Blart himself isn't even a very amusing character either, having no real distinguishing features apart from the fact that he is fat - cue endless jokes about him getting stuck in pipes and eating too much food. Kevin James isn't a very good comedy actor either, making the whole experience feel lame and unfunny which surely is the whole purpose of a 'comedy' film.

The swath of supporting actors also are very poor, coupled with a totally unconvincing romance between Blart and wig-seller Jayma Mays which is pretty laughable. The would be bad guy too is awful, acting with all the pomp of a camp Robert Davi - dreadful!

If you want to see a good comedy about mall cops, then watch Seth Rogen in 'Observe and Report' as that is genuinely amusing. This film seems tired and under-produced giving the whole film a very lacklustre feel. Sorry to be so negative about this film, but it just was a total pile of pants! There is very little else to say apart from me urging you to find another film to watch instead of this one - c'mon - thyere are literally hundreds of thousands of other great films you could see before shelling out your hard earned pounds to watch this pile of poo.

If you feel up to it and 'The Last Temptation of Christ' is out at Blockbuster, then get Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Available now from play.com for £11.99 including postage.

Cheers for the heads up. I did like Observe and Report, and have been thinking of reviewing it. I will when I get round to it.
