Advantages: Lots of special feeatures

Disadvantages: Not that funny

Mall Cop starring famous actor Kevin James and produced and presented by movie giants Columbia Pictures. The movie is also produced by Adam Sandler, ultimate comedy actor winning many awards in his time.
The movie itself is rated PG, however I would like to state that it is a family comedy, the type you would watch during a night in with the whole family. There are not at many scenes of violence at all however there are a few gun scenes the reason as to why it is rated parental guidance. Personally I would let children watch this alone as, there is no bad language, scenes of a sexual nature or extreme violence. The only violence in the movie is that of a humorous nature, like the type you would find on a TV programme such as Tom and Jerry.

The DVD has an average retail price of £4.99 therefore is a perfect family movie for those on a budget or just generally looking to pick up a cheap movie for a night in.

The Main Plot
From the beginning of the movie Paul Blart is shown to be a regularly fat guy working as a security guard in his hometown mall. He seems to take his job too seriously and because of this his actions always seem to backfire on him. Patrolling the mall on a Segway he seems to take minor offences extremely seriously. The Christmas holidays arrive and all seems fine until a group of Santa's little helpers decide to shut down the mall and begin to take hostages. This is Pauls chance to shine but will he succeed on his daring venture to save the mall and his co-workers? This may be the chance he needs to gain the promotion/job he has his eyes set upon.

Personally I feel that among other family comedies, this movie could have been a lot better. The plot was very simple, a bit too simple for my liking. This is however a family movie and this fact must be respected as children may find it harder to follow the movie. For the level of humour I feel that there are much funnier family comedies out there. I did not one experience any moment of pure hysteria that I have done during similar movies. Being produced partly by Adam Sandler I definitely feel that the movie did not reach its full potential of humorous content. Because of this I do not think the movie achieved its purpose.

To improve upon the movie I think the producers just needed to spend a bit more time on the humorous side of it and not pay so much attention to a very simple plot. It did have the potential to be a great movie, similar to the home alone films or along those lines. Because of the fact it didn't make me laugh much and seemed like they used an old draft lying around for the plot I would rate this movie overall a 3.5/4, because I do believe children would be entertained and amused by the production .

Summary: overall an 'ok' family movie that could do with some more funny scenes
