I waited so long to see this film! I waited almost as long to see Titanic which is similar to this film. I would recomend this film to anyone who loves action films or romance films.

*The Characters* - Beware there may be a few spoilers

Raif (Ben Affleck) - Raif has dreamt of being a pilot all of his life. He almost loses his wings because of difficulty to read letters but luckily Evelyn (A beautiful nurse) passes him. Raif seems to have a way with the ladies (which is hardly surprising its Ben!!). He quickly falls in love with Evelyn. Raif is very daring and enjoys playing "Chicken" whilst in the air.

Danny ( Josh Hartnett) - Danny keeps Raif right and they are both best friends. Danny also dreamt of becoming a pilot. Danny is not as daring as Raif and is quite shy with women (Although he has no reason to be!) Danny seems to fall for Evelyn when he turns to her for comfort after the death of his best friend.

Evelyn (Kake Beckinsale) - Evelyn is a beautiful nurse who falls for Raif immediatley. The two fall in love but then Raif leave for England to fight. When she hears of his death she turns to his best friend, Danny.

I'd love to say that this film was based solely on the events at Pearl Harbor but unfortuantley its not. The film begins with a childhood memory of Raif and Danny imagining themselves as pilots. The film mainly starts as the two prepare for tests and injections. It is here that we are introduced to Raifs main weakness. He jumbles up letters. He gives a heartfelt speech explaining why he should not lose his wings and Evelyn, a beatiful nurse passes him. Raif is obviously taken with Evelyn and goes to have another injection just so that he can see her again. He ends up falling over.
He and Evelyn start dating and end up falling in love. All seems to be going great for the young couple until Raif is posted to fight in England. Danny is disappo

inted that Raif didnt tell him and Raif tells him that he was ordered to go but then admits to Evelyn that he volenteered to go and that he was protecting Danny by not telling him.
Raif goes off to England to fight and Evelyn and the nurses, Danny and the pilots all go to Pearl Harbor. Raif and Evelyn keep their relationship going through letters and all seems to be going great until one day Danny turns up with some bad news. Unfortuanatley Raif's plane was shot down and he died in action.
A few months go by and Red and Betty fall in love. One night they all go to a movie but Evelyn and Danny leave and go for a meal. They dismiss any rumours of them being a couple. Red proposes to Batty and she accepts. Evelyn and Danny become really close and Danny takes Evelyn for a plane ride and they end up making love.
Danny and Evelyn are now considered a couple and they had moved on from their huge loss of Raif until Raif turns up again. He was picked up by a sail boat and had been trying to get back to them ever since. Evelyn is left in a state of confusion and Raif just expects everything to pick up where it left off and can't accept that Evelyn thought he was dead and had moved on. He and Danny had a bust up and they then drive off somewhere.
The next mornig Pearl Harbor is woken up by the sound of the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. Lots of bombing and action takes place here and of course as we've all probably guessed Evelyn, Danny and Raif save the day. Unfortunatley Betty is killed in all the commotion.
Raif and Danny are later commended for their bravery and heroic actions. They are also asked to take part in a secret mission. They both accept but later Evelyn tells Raif that she is pregnant even though the child is obviously Danny's. As always Raif tries to protect Danny by telling him not to go. They both train for the mission but is the mission they have trained for a suicidal one? I won't ruin it any more to find out t

If you wanted to see a film that is based solely on the events at pearl then I'm sorry but you'll have to wait about an hour to see any of it! I must say though that the special effects and stunts in this film are brilliant and i was really impressed. I always enjoy watching this film although it is a bit long and so you have to have time to sit down and watch it. I liked the way that the film showed both points of view, it showed the Japanese planning to attck but at the same time it showed America totally oblivious to any attack plans. This film is great for all viewers, action film fans, romance film fans and above all Ben Affleck fans!
